The “Hong Kong Green Awards” (HKGA) is firstly organized by Green Council in 2010. We aim for identifying and recognizing businesses with outstanding Green Purchasing performance and excellent Operational environmental management, and also encourage them to build Hong Kong as a sustainable and green city.
The HKGA 2011 comprise of “Green Purchaswi$e Award” (GPA) and “Green Management Award” (GMA). It is led by Green Council in conjunction with 25 supporting organization, namely, in alphabetical order, the Asia Pacific Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production, the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management, the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, the Environmental Protection Department, the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, the French Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, the Global Ecolabelling Network, the Hong Kong Federation of Restaurants & Related Trades, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, the Hong Kong Procurement Professional Association, the Hong Kong Productivity Council, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Hong Kong Waste Management Association, the HKU SPACE, the Institution of Supply Management – Pearl River Delta, the Institution of Purchasing & Supply of Hong Kong, the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management, the International Green Purchasing Network, The Chartered Institution of Purchasing & Supply – Hong Kong Branch, The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Association of Property Management, The Hong Kong Chinese Importers’ & Exporters’ Association, The Hong Kong Construction Association and The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Environmental Division. The HKGA had received overwhelming support with a total of 61 companies being recognized in 2010.
1. To recognize corporations and SMEs with outstanding performance on green purchasing and green management
2. To encourage companies to improve their environmental performance in their operational and management processes
3. To present the companies’ environment consciousness and social caring with the award
