Since 2013, Green Council has designated the United Nations' World Environment Day on the 5th of June as "Hong Kong Green Day" to raise public awareness on environmental protection, and it has become a major annual environmental event in Hong Kong.
This year, we are answering "A Global Call for Climate Action." We are calling on everyone—from young eco-heroes in schools to corporate leaders in the boardroom—to step up and make a difference. Through our month-long series of events, including the City Green Hunt, Dress Green Campaign, corporate Green Pledges, and exciting school competitions, we are making sustainability accessible, actionable, and fun.

Hong Kong Secondary School Eco-Knowledge Quiz Competition (Secondary School)
This competition aims to raise awareness of environmental protection and sustainable development among youth and the general public, sparking an interest in learning through an interactive contest. Designed primarily for secondary school students, the quiz covers a wide range of topics, including climate change, waste management, energy efficiency, biodiversity, and green living.
Mr. Green Creative Coloring Competition (Primary School)
Under this year’s theme of "#ClimateAction", we are excited to host the "Mr. Green Creative Coloring Competition". We warmly invite primary school students across Hong Kong to unleash their creativity by adding vibrant colors to Mr. Green, the official mascot of Hong Kong Green Day. Through this fun activity, students will learn about the importance of environmental protection and caring for our planet.
School Book & Uniform Recycling Activity
As students advance to new grades each year, outgrown school uniforms and finished books often end up sitting in the corners of closets, or worse, going to waste. Through the "School Book & Uniform Recycling Activity," we are putting these resources back to good use! By giving old books and uniforms a "second life," we hope to encourage the younger generation to take active steps toward waste reduction and bring the concept of sustainability right into their campuses.
In line with this year’s powerful theme—"A Global Call for Climate Action"—we invite primary and secondary students from all across Hong Kong to join us. It’s a great chance to showcase your creativity and put your eco-knowledge to the test!
